L’organisation des activités éditoriales et typographiques a été sérieusement bousculée depuis une vingtaine d’années par l’informatique. Malgré ceci, les activités de base qui constituent la « chaîne graphique » n’ont, à quelques exceptions près, pas été touchées. L’article qui suit résume les principales activités qui doivent être maîtrisées dans tout travail typographique.

Computers have radically altered the organisation of editorial and typographical production processes. However, the basic activities involved have remained largely untouched by technical change. The article which follows describes the principal typographical task which have to be carried out, whether it be with traditional or new technologies.
